Managing Blood Pressure in Florida's Heat and Humidity

Heart health — Published February 20, 2026 · 4 min read

Warm weather, dehydration, and salt from dining out can affect readings along the Gulf Coast—practical tips from our cardiology team.

Hydration and electrolytes

Mild dehydration can raise heart rate and make blood pressure readings less stable. Aim for steady water intake, especially if you spend time outdoors between Venice and Bradenton. Ask your clinician before changing salt or potassium unless directed.

Home monitoring

Home cuffs are useful when validated against the office device. Bring your home monitor to an appointment so we can compare readings and arm cuff size.

When to call

Seek urgent care for chest pain, sudden neurologic symptoms, or blood pressure readings far outside your usual range with symptoms. For medication questions, our office can coordinate with your pharmacy and primary care team.
