What are varicose veins?
Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins most often seen in the legs and feet. They may be cosmetic, but can also cause discomfort, heaviness, swelling, or pain.
What causes them?
They occur when vein valves weaken and blood pools. Risk factors include genetics, pregnancy, obesity, prolonged standing or sitting, and aging.
